Question: What is the Comedy Battle Royale?
Answer: The Comedy Battle Royale is a stand-up comedy competition held most Thursdays at Old Stove Brewing Co. - Gardens in Ballard. It is a ticketed event with a paid feature performer, paid host and a lineup of 15 to 18 comedians who are eligible for cash prizes of at least $50 each night.
Question: How do I sign up?
Answer: Practicing stand-up comedians can sign up through the Signup page on this website or through the link in the bios of Instagram pages @bychristalbott and @battleroyaleballard. Signing up is a request for a performance space, not a guarantee. We offer occasional bucket list spots, but signup is usually full by the midnight Wednesday cutoff. We take 15 or so comedians each week. The list will be released by noon each Thursday. We strive to allow everyone a chance to perform, but you may not make the list every week. Please do not be discouraged. We currently offer 4- to 5-minute performance slots, subject to change without warning. Expect 4 and you won't be disappointed.
Question: How do I win the cash prizes?
Answer: The Comedy Battle Royale will award at least $50 in cash prizes every week. Members of the audience vote to determine the winner. All tips will be given out in increments of $25 until all tips have been given away. To be eligible to win, comedians must perform their set in good order and be present when the vote is tallied at the end of the event, around 10 p.m.
Question: Do you pay your comedians?
Answer: Yes! In addition to our weekly cash giveaway, we offer paid feature and host opportunities every week. These slots go to working comedians who are often perfecting material they'll perform in front of large audiences.
