They say comedians are the foot soldiers on the frontlines of our current culture wars. We here at Mockingbird Comedy are digging in and taking a stand by launching Project 2026: A Comedy Show for Our Times on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Old Stove Brewing Co. - Ship Canal in North Queen Anne.

It’s the first in what we hope will be a series of shows next year aimed at educating the public about the First Amendment, our rights and duties as Americans, and the need to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. We must take back our country from the anti-American radical cabal of oligarchs and their thralls that has stolen the U.S. and sent us on the path to ruin.

It’s really not very funny. We can do something about it, however! But first, as DJ Senor Love Daddy reminds us in the opening scene of Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing,” we must first “Wake up!” Then we hit play on the boom box and fight the power by weaponizing laughter.

We’ll have an information table at each Mockingbird Comedy show in 2026 with knowledge and resources that should be important to every American, regardless of political stripe. And we’ll keep it real. There’s a lot of blame to go around here, people, and we’re keeping receipts.

Project 2026 will feature a roster of the Seattle area’s local famous comedians. We’ll announce the lineup in early January.

And what a show it was! Dirty Santa showed up with Mrs. Claus to celebrate their 320th anniversary! The Grinch dropped by to grouse. An angelic tree-topper, a very real Nutcracker and a very disappointed pastor made appearances. And a radical anti-Santa elf confronted the audience with a leftist deconstruction of the beloved holiday classic “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

Tickets are $20 with a portion of every sale going to the Food Bank’s Weekend Food for Kids program. And Old Stove will donate a dollar for every beer purchased during the show, too.
There will be Food Bank representatives on hand to answer questions, take donations and sign up volunteers. And we’ll be accepting donations of nonperishables ahead of the holidays.
