It started as a joke: Skim-read a few chapters of the famously smutty “Fourth Wing” so I could write jokes for our latest zany stand-up comedy creation, A Night of Laughter and Whimsy: A Romantasy Comedy Celebration, on Saturday, April 25, at Old Stove Brewing Co. - Ship Canal.

It’s not funny any more: I’m more than 300 pages in now and compulsively reading every word. Oh, the world building! If this is the kind of thing that happens to you when you pick up the latest blockbuster literary phenomenon, then Laughter and Whimsy is for you, dear reader.

I’m not the only one taking this jump-the-canyon challenge seriously. We’ve got a dozen comedians lined up to surf the literary zeitgeist, including host Lindsey Anderson and librarian Jenna Nobs. A real librarian, people!
